The article presents research results in a comparative aspect of the intestinal microbiota of Simmental and Holstein-Friesian calves, aged 2-5 days, using 16S metagenomic analysis. Based on the results of the study, it was concluded that Simmental calves have the widest composition of the microbial profile in the intestine compared to the intestinal microbiota of Holstein-Friesian calves. In the Holstein-Friesian breed, the largest number of conditionally pathogenic bacteria prevails over lactic acid and obligate ones. According to the analysis, Holstein-Friesian calves are more susceptible to the penetration of pathogenic microflora than Simmental calves.
