The archeological and written sources witness that in XV - the middle of XVII centuries the reduction of the Mordovian people in primordial areas was taken place. It was the result of long (the middle of XIII - the middle of XVI centuries) domination of the Golden Horde and Kazan khans. The threaten of diffusion and disappearing of the Mordovian people was real. But as the result of the growth of the Moscow state, building of Russian fortresses, defending from forays the ancient mordovian lands, destroying Kazan khanate, mordva could be free and came back its former territories. The threaten of the Mordovian people disappearing was liquidated.
