An average reader of a translated text: what is he/she like?

Бесплатный доступ

The problem of determining an average reader remains unexplored in the theory of translation. The process of translation studies the receiver of a translated text as some well-defined, often as an abstract person or a group of people. The authors share their own understanding of the issue and characterize the receiver of a translated text, determine factors influencing these characteristics, and adduce examples of mistakes in translation caused by the lack of the addressee in a translated text.
