Means of expressing intensity in the Buryat language

The article provides a brief analysis of lexical means of expressing intensity in the Buryat language. Сategory of intensity is widely discussed in Russian lexicology. As in Russian semantic category of intensity in Buryat is expressedиwith the help of language elements having intensity function — grammatical forms, syntactic constructions and lexemes. The author’s attention is paid to specifics of Buryat adverbs-intensifiers, which are considered as expressive language means. It is concluded that the leading role in system of expressing intensity belongs to lexical level. Except adverbs the meaning of intensity in Buryat can express verbs, adjectives, and some particles. For interpreting linguistic material contextual and definitional analyses were used and examples were taken from the Buryat-Russian parallel corpus and some dictionaries
