Standardization of Artemisia mongolicae herba

The article presents data on standardization of the aerial part of Artemisia mongolica (Fisch. ex Besser.) Nakai. We have determined morphological and microscopic characteristics of the herbal substance, and carried out a qualitative analysis for phenolic compounds (flavonoids, coumarins, anthocyanins, tannins), polysaccharides, saponins, fatty and essential oils. Results of quality evaluation of Artemisia mongolicae herbal substance include moisture content (6,4%), total ash (5,1%), acid-insoluble ash (4,6%), organic impurities (0,4%), mineral impurities (0,1%), discolored parts (0,5%), and the total content of extractable substances (70% ethanol extractant) at 23,1%. The quantitative content of total flavonoids, calculated as rutin, was 0,3%, while the essential oil content was 0,5%.
