Formation and development of the principle of adversarial parties in the Russian criminal process from ancient times to the present day

This article briefly describes the legislative acts that regulated Russian criminal proceedings from the adoption of Russkaya Pravda to the Criminal procedure code of the Russian Federation. Throughout the article, special attention is paid to the principle of adversarial parties, namely, its appearance, formation and development in criminal proceedings. In the early 90s of the last century, the judicial reform process restored the principle of adversarial parties, but its development continues to this day.
