Formation and development of the criminal procedure law of Russia: the history of establishment

The article is devoted to the period of creation of the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation, to the directions of reforming of criminal proceedings that took place at that time. The authors draw attention to the fact that the original version of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation practically did not work, since even before it came into effect, some changes have been made to it; authors note that during the twenty-year period of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation the content of a number of its procedural institutions was radically changed; authors highlight three main directions of development of the criminal procedure legislation of Russia of that period. The authors conclude that the modern criminal procedure law needs a certain adjustment; the introduction of conceptual changes to the Criminal Procedure Code of the Russian Federation must be preceded by a broad discussion in the scientific community and among the law enforcement officers, followed by bringing the developed proposals to the legislator.
