The formation of cognitive linguistics as a science

This article examines the sources and stages of the formation of cognitive linguistics as a relatively new and independent discipline. The work is devoted to the description of the basics of linguistic knowledge from the point of view of cognitive science. The author of the article considers language as a phenomenon in which huge layers of information with a cognitive chain "consciousness - language - representation - conceptualization - categorization - perception" are concentrated. The role of cognition, which consists in cognition of the surrounding reality, is particularly emphasized.
