Statement of the problem. Russia is currently experiencing a demographic crisis. Two children are born by less than a third of women of reproductive age. At the state level, the issue is resolved only by socio-economic measures. At the same time, a number of studies have been carried out in psychology, proving the formation of the maternal sphere of the personality during ontogenesis. The preschool childhood of girls remains without due attention in this matter. The purpose of the article is to study the emerging maternal sphere of the personality of primary school girls and to determine psychological and pedagogical measures necessary for its successful formation. Methodology (materials and methods). The research methodology is represented by the concept of ontogenesis of the maternal need-motivation sphere developed in works by G.G. Filippova, ideas about the internal position of a parent developed by S.A. Abdullina, analysis and generalization of research work on the psychology of motherhood. The 3 diagnostic methods were applied: “Individual Game of Dolls” (G.G. Filippova, S.A. Abdullina), “Sex and Age Identification” by N.L. Belopolskaya, “Kinetic Drawing of the Family” by R. Bearns, S. Kaufman. The basis of the study is Kindergarten No. 198 of the AOA Russian Railways in Krasnoyarsk. The sample included 27 girls (5-6 years old). Research results. The maternal sphere of personality is at a high, middle and low levels of formation at the gaming stage of its formation among 18,5 %, 29,6 % and 51,9 % of the respondents, respectively. The value-sense, operational, and need-emotional blocks of the maternal sphere at this stage were formed in 44,4 %, 33,3 % and 18,5 % of the girls, respectively. Statistical processing of the obtained data indicates the significance of the emotional and operational inclusion of girls in the plot-role-playing game with a doll, emotional proximity with her mother. Conclusion. The results obtained make it possible to identify key indicators of the development of the maternal sphere of the girls’ personality at the playing stage of its formation. Based on the analysis of the obtained data, possible psychological and pedagogical measures have been proposed to develop the maternal sphere of the personality at the playing stage of its formation.
