Verse and prose: syntactical peculiarities

One of the syntactical peculiarities that differs verse from prose is described in this article. The studies are based on a bilingual corpus of Russian and French texts. The author makes an attempt to prove that coordination prevails over subordination in verse. This particular phenomenon aims to support the equality of lines in every verse which is thought to be one of the most important features in contemporary theories of versification.
