The article explores the patterns of the translation style of Leonid E. Cherkasskiy, the prominent Russian sinologist and active promoter of Chinese culture in Russia. He paid close attention to the famous “May 4th” movement in Chinese poetry. The article analyzes Cherkasskiy’s translation of the poem «I do not know which way the wind blows», written by Xu Zhimo, the most significant representative of this movement. The paper evaluates the degree of Cherkasskiy’s translation relevance and the significance of his culture promotion position.
