The article discusses the role of stylistic devices in landscape descriptions of the novel "The Magus" by English writer John Fowles. Examines the use of the role, functions and value of epithets, metaphors, personifications, and transfers in the novel. Each of the methods is expressed in different ways, but they all have a common goal - to attract the reader''s attention to certain landscapes in the text and enrich his detailed description of the scene. The role of stylistic means the creation of the landscape in the novel is great: they help to create a bright, imaginative and text are used to express the personal relations of the author to depict objects, describe in detail the environmental impact of the protagonist, which gives the reader an opportunity to plunge into the atmosphere of the novel.
