"One hundred years of solitude" as a metaphor for Latin American history

Latin America in the system of international relations every year takes more and more significant positions among the growing and progressing regions of the world. However, not everyone knows its history, cultural values and customs of the people. The article considers a unique work by Gabriel Garcia Marquez ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’, where through the small settlement of Macondo the history of South America is translated, and with the help of magical realism the author reveals the key themes characteristic of this continent. The article is intended for specialists, students of international relations and those interested in the phenomenon of Latin America as a progressive actor of modern geopolitics.
