In the article the brightest pages of the history of one of the first monuments to Vladimir Lenin, the founder of the Soviet state, are highlighted. The monument was created in 1925-1926 by the project of the Leningrad sculptor Vasily V. Kozlov. The project of the pedestal was executed by sculptors Leopold A. Dietrich and Konstantin A. Dietrich, together with the Leningrad architect, Oleg K. Domansky. During the Great Patriotic War, the monument was in the zone of active fighting, so its repair was part of the complex of works on the post-war restoration of the port. Currently the monument to V.I. Lenin has the status of an object of cultural heritage of federal importance and is situated on its historic location in the coastal zone Tsemess Bay on Portovaya Street (ex. - Beregovaya) before the historic building of the Office of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port in the seaport of Novorossiysk. Monument to Vladimir Lenin still plays a significant accentual role in the urban complex of Portovaya Street and stores historical and cultural value as an authentic material evidence of a bygone era.
