The strategic priorities in the theme-based English educational materials contents for the university students

The following problems are considered in the article: a) the need for the definition of the contemporary education essence and the principles of its formation; b) the initial analysis of the contemporary educational materials: their spiritual-moral aspect. The most important elements of culture, which influence the meaning, being formed towards the perceived objects: i.e. values systems, the philosophy of life and social institutions. As the article deals with the issues connected with the definitions of the English educational materials contents which are less developed within the contemporary paradigm the work appears to be topical today. It is the educational materials contents which realizes the purposes of education, on the one hand, and reflects both the current and long-term requirements and needs of the society and sometimes individuals, on the other hand. That is why the educational contents was and still is the subject of the ideological struggle. This factor is predictable under the educational content formation. Narrow directed orientation of the contemporary educational contents to labour market resulted in ruinous consequences. In such system there is no space for the spiritual-moral education which is mentioned as priority task in many state documents. This article comes into view as the initial stage of the task put forward by the authors on the analyses of the spiritual-moral aspect of the educational materials contents. The clarification of the two terms “spiritual” and “moral” which are often interpreted and understood in different ways is presented in the article.
