Strategies for translating legal texts

The given article concerns the strategies used during translation of legal texts as well as specific features of such texts. Translation strategy is an algorithm of making translation decisions, a general plan of translator’s actions. The article reveals specific features of legal texts which are especially difficult for translation, for example, polysemy of terms, antonyms, homonyms. The strategies oriented at source language and at target language are also described in the article.
