The paper presents a comprehensive analysis of the repertoire policy strategy implemented by the P.I. Smirnov Bayan Orchestra, a unique entity in the contemporary musical culture of St. Petersburg. Central place is paid to three key aspects: the artistic value of the performed works, their pedagogical significance for musicians of different skill levels, and their social-cultural impact on audiences. Particular attention is given to the multi-tiered educational system employed by the ensemble, which encompasses three age-based groups with differentiated repertoire selections. The analysis explores the orchestra’s overarching repertoire concept, structured into four thematic blocks: classical compositions, folk arrangements, popular instrumental music, and contemporary works. The author emphasizes the importance of this repertoire policy as a vital instrument for musical education and the cultivation of cultural values. The orchestra’s activities are examined as a significant socio-cultural phenomenon that promotes harmonious personal development and strengthens intergenerational connections through folk musical art.
