Structure and content of the information and cognitive student activity

In this paper, the expediency of introducing the information and cognitive activity in the educational process and the need to develop students' abilities in this activity while studying particle physics have been grounded. The nature of information interaction in the modern information society necessitated the development of new activities needed for effective assimilation of knowledge and skills. Based on the analysis of scientists' works devoted to the theory of the cognitive activity formation, the structure and the possibilities of introduction of information and cognitive activity in the learning process have been defined, and that constitute the novelty of the study. The theoretical significance of the results is the clarified concept of information and cognitive activity. The results can be used in teaching natural science subjects, while working with various sources of information, selecting and organizing information, solving research and practical tasks.
