Structural-semantic development of technical terminology abbreviations (based on English borrowings in the Russian language)

The linguistic situation is characterized by leading researchers as intensively developing due to new words of English origin in the newest period. This article explores abbreviation from a semantic point of view, reveals the semantic processes associated with abbreviations. The authors present the abbreviations as an actively developing word-formation method. The object of research is the abbreviations used in technical fields, such as aircraft manufacturing, automotive, radio engineering, etc. The technical abbreviations under study are borrowed elements from the English language. The authors classify abbreviation formation into several types. A number of abbreviation groups are distinguished based on their structure, the formation of terminology abbreviations. High productivity of abbreviations in modern Russian is noted. The relevance of this study is due to considering the active processes of modern word formation and identifying new trends in the field of abbreviation, penetrating into all areas of modern society. The study of the abbreviation formation is a major linguistic problem.
