Structural types and systemic relations of terms within lexico-semantic group “names for persons according to their profession” in mining industry terminology: beginning of XVIII century

Development of the lexico-semantic group “Names for persons according to their profession” (NPAP) is studied. The lexico-semantic group in focus evolved in mining industry of Peter the Great period. Generic names (hyperonyms) are sorted out, and on their basis, specific nominative units (hyponyms) of different structures are formed. There are three structural types of NPAP denomination: lexical, syntagmatic, and phrasal. Moreover, NPAP are combined in term subgroups according to the similarity of the motivation feature of denomination. Thereby, large synonymic rows including single-word terms, complex and phrasal denominations are revealed. Hypero-hyponym relations serve as a basis for models of multicomponent terms reflecting focused specialization of professional labour. The basic method of denomination is syntactical derivation. The systemacy is provided by high regularity of the single-type term models. The main features of the term system are its abundance in non-single-word terms, presence of synonymic nominative rows combining nominative variants of different structure. Activization of these systemic relations is conditioned by the search for optimal ways of nominating persons according to their profession. This indicates that at the beginning of the XVIII century the formation of the mining industry terminology system was not completed.
