Introduction: in article classifications of subjects of electoral process are analyzed. The purpose: to define a place and a role of the various subjects participating in electoral process. Methods: in article are used general scientific (dialectics, the analysis and synthesis, abstraction and a concrete definition) and private-scientific methods of research (legallistic, rather-legal, tehniko-legal). During scientific search the special attention was given to comparative, system methods of research. Results: the author defines a circle of obligatory and facultative subjects of electoral process. Obligatory subjects are subdivided on two subgroups: the basic participants and the bodies spending elections. The basic participants - voters and candidates. The author also does a conclusion about necessity of allocation of collective basic subjects (parties and elective body). The basic subjects possess the maximum volume of the rights, they participate in formation of elected bodies of the power and investment with powers of elective officials. Also obligatory subjects are electoral commissions. The specified participants are the authorised subjects and fulfil the duties assigned to them. Facultative subjects carry out auxiliary function as they help to realise another's active and passive suffrage. The specified subjects also are subdivided on two subgroups. The first subgroup includes observers, authorised representatives and other subjects, as a rule, possessing laws of procedure. In the second subgroup the author carries the authorised bodies of the government, local government and the officials promoting the organisation and elections. Conclusions: the subjects who are carrying out various functions participate in electoral process. The volume of their rights and duties is various. Owing to it the author comes to conclusion, that the principle of equality of participants of electoral process allocated in a science should not be understood abstractly. Strict equality should be provided only among one-serial subjects. The similar inequality should not admit discrimination.
