Court and police interpretation: drawing lessons of world practice

The analysis of institutes of court and police interpreters in the USA, Canada, Australia, Great Britain, France, Spain and Germany is represented in the article. The author gives empirical data on the frequency of the applications to the particular languages in Russia. The translation practice-related situation and training of highly qualified interpreters are analyzed. Measures for short-term special training of interpreters by the judicial, translation and interpretation organizations are offered.
