Essence and content of the concept “sports-patriotic education”

Patriotic education of the population, especially schoolchildren and students, is a priority task of the state, as the President of the Russian Federation V. V. Putin has spoken about more than once in his speeches. Despite the noticeable strengthening of educational work in various educational organizations, the search for ways to increase the effectiveness of patriotic education remains a pressing problem among teacher-researchers. This article examines the extremely important and rapidly gaining popularity in the practice of education, but insufficiently studied in theory, the concept of “sports-patriotic education”. Emphasis is placed on the educational potential of sports activities. The purpose of the work is to determine the essence and structural elements of the concept of “sports and patriotic education”. Research methods: analysis and synthesis of scientific and methodological literature, abstraction, generalization, specification. Within the framework of the study, various approaches to understanding the essence of the concepts of “patriotism”, “sports and patriotic education”, as well as to the question of the relationship between physical education, sports and spiritual and moral education are considered. Based on the analysis of theoretical works, the terminological apparatus of the article was clarified, the components of the concepts “patriotism” and “sports-patriotic education” were identified. the theoretical significance of the research results lies in the fact that the author’s interpretations of the above concepts are presented, the structural elements of the concept of “patriotism” are defined, as well as criteria (cognitive, sensory-value, activity), indicators and levels of formation of patriotism (low, medium, high), presented their characteristics. The structural components of sports and patriotic education are identified: axiological activity-based, cognitive and reflective, the essence of this concept is revealed. The research material is supplemented by knowledge about sports and patriotic education, its implementation in the conditions of institutions of additional education of physical education and sports. The practical significance of the article is that the material can be useful in developing educational programs and criterion-diagnostic tools.
