The essence and content of chief police officer professional success

The article provides the reader with the content of the chief police officers' professional success from the collection, partial, socio-psychological, functional, integration approaches and supervisors' models. The content of the supervisors' professional success is revealed considering the chief police officers' professional activity and those requirements put forth for the supervisor. The author describes the specifics of the supervisor's professional activity in Law enforcement in relation to the revealed features of professional successful management activity: psychic tension connected with counteracting criminal environment, variety and difficult character of professional tasks, their conflict character, high responsibility for the results etc. It is determined that the modern stage is characterized by the transition from the descriptive to the integral supervisor's models. The paper shows the advantages of the competency-based approach to the estimate of the supervisor personality enabling to apply a new scientific methodical basis for the organization of psychological maintenance of chief police officers' management activity from the position of psychological assessment and its predicted success.
