The essence and specifics of universal training at the university in the context of the humanities

The historical review and analysis on the problem of universal training are stated in the article. Philosophers of Ancient world, Medieval Europe, epochs of Renaissance and Enlightenment, modern period, which meditate upon the Universes, universality, universalism, universalization, are recounted according main conceptual statements of their works. The analysis of contemporary Russian researches let to form content of «universality» in the context of professional training, to understand the perspectives and the problems of universal professional training organization at university. The main conclusion of the problem’s analysis is the priority role of modular approach to the organization of universal training of professionals.
