Connection between Professional Burnout and Suicidal Risk and Neurotic Conditions in Employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations

Introduction. The purpose is to describe the correlation structure of professional burnout, suicidal risk and neurotic conditions of employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations. Materials and Methods. Psycho-diagnostic methods of the study include «Professional Burnout» (K. Maslach); Questionnaire of Suicidal Risk (T. N. Razuvaeva); Clinical questionnaire for identification and evaluation of neurotic conditions (K. A. Yakhin, D. M. Mendelevich). All calculations are performed in SPSS software (version 7.0). The research was based on the psychological support department of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the Republic of Bashkortostan. The sample consisted of 72 respondents. Results and Discussion. The connection of professional burnout (psycho-emotional exhaustion) with suicidal risk and neurotic conditions of employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations with suicidal risk indicators was revealed: demonstrativeness, affectivity, uniqueness, incapacity, social pessimism, time perspective, anti-suicidal factor; with variable neurotic conditions: anxiety, neurotic depression, asthenia, hysterical type of reaction, obsessive-phobia disorders, vegetative disorders. Conclusions. Employees of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations most of all suffer from disorders in emotional sphere, the consequences of which are professional burnout, suicidal risk and other neurotic states.
