Relationship of resistin, proinflammatory interleukines, and diastolic dysfunction in patients with cardiomyopathies of different genesis

We studied 102 patients with metabolic cardiomyopathy associated with diabetes mellitus type 2, 16 patients with cardiomyopathy with digestive disorder, and 20 healthy persons in order to determine the effect of resistin, interleukin1β and interleukin6 on structural and functional changes in the myocardium. Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in patients with metabolic cardiomyopathy associated with type 2 diabetes was more severe compared to patients with cardiomyopathy and digestive disorder. Left ventricular diastolic dysfunction occurred not only due to the activation of inflammatory processes, but also due to other factors such as insulin resistance, hyperglycemia, excessive accumulation of intraabdominal fat resulting in the increased expression of adipokine with proinflammatory activity, resistin.
