This article considers the way that the expression בנֵיֵאִליםְּ is translated in the edition of the Psalter of Archbishop Ambrose (Zertis-Kamensky) (1708-1771). This translation was done in the 18th century and was based on the Masoretic text. In the article, the translation is compared with the Septuagint and the Elizabeth Bible, translated in 1751. Possible sources that influenced the archbishop’s translation of various terms are considered in light of the patristic and academic traditions of exegesis. As a result, the author concludes that in one of the cases consider, the translator followed the dictionary of Buxtorf, whereas in an another case, his translation parallels the ideas of Blessed Theodoret of Cyrrhus and the Russian pre-revolutionary Explanatory Bible.
