This study examines the new approach of A. Badiou, describing the relationship between philosophy and art. According to A. Badiou, the three schemes of possible connection between art and philosophy (didactic, romantic, and classical) that existed in Western European culture have outlived their usefulness, which has led to the urgency of searching for a new approach. Inaesthetics becomes an alternative way of understanding art, which is no longer an object of philosophy, but produces truths in itself. The complexity of the philosophical understanding of dance is associated with the contradictory interpretation of the term “dance". Dance is considered as a metaphor for thinking in inaesthetics. Inaesthetic analysis allows us to examine dance as an anthropological event, and does not limit it to the framework of a work of art. A. Badiou correlates dance with F. Nietzsche's idea of thinking as becoming, using a series of images (a bird, a gushing spring, a child, intangible air), which indicate the freedom and lightness of the dancing body. In dance, movement and the reason of movement are fused together. The nature of dance does not emerge in the actual movement, pose, or gesture, however it can be seen through “virtual" movement, that is, what remained held inside the movement, according to A. Badious words. Through an aesthetic approach, the author was able to reveal that attributes, such as trajectory, posture, step, jump, but not the physical movement of the body, are of greater importance for the essence of the dance. Inaesthetics reveals a wide potential for the investigation of art in general and dance in particular.
