The research examines the influence of technical activity on the process of anthropogenesis and the intensification of the sense of inner crisis that is inherent in modern man. The author analyzes the views of A. Kozhev, O. Rank, M. Heidegger, V.V. Bibikhin on this problem. The conclusion about the dramatic nature of man's excessive involvement in mechanics of action, which leads to the loss of determinate being and selfhood, is made. The paper considers a way for man to regain what has been lost through a sense of involvement in the whole world. The relevance of the study stems from the fact that in the modern world, characterized by A.V. Akhutin as ‘turning times’, there is an opportunity for semantic shifts, including the reflection of issues related to technical activity and the formation of technical reality in general. It is concluded that the understanding of the relationship between man and being as mutual belonging can reduce the existential bewilderment of modern man.
