The article is devoted to critical thinking development in the process of learning a foreign language at the University. The stages of critical thinking development are described. The examples of critical thinking development provide motivation in learning a foreign language and an intensification of critical thinking formation process at the University. The research and experimental verification of the effectiveness of critical thinking development were conducted, in which the criteria for assessing is an interest in learning a foreign language, an interest in independent work in a group, current progress of learning a foreign language The article introduces the results of control and test works, current progress as well as questionnaires. The results of experimental work show the efficiency of critical thinking development in the process of learning a foreign language at the University.
