Textile art is an interesting and multifaceted phenomenon in modern art. Textile objects with the use of metal, wood, plastic and other «non-textile» materials belong to that art. At present masters working in various techniques of artistic processing of soft materials as hand weaving, weaving, felting, embroidery, appliqué, etc. are searching for new technologies, using new materials. In this search two main approaches can be identified − traditional and conceptual. There is a strong connection with decorative applied art in traditional approach. The experiments with textile fibers and other materials, textile surface transformation from twodimensional to three-dimensional, creation of installations comprise the conceptual direction. The article considers the search for something new in the design of traditional materials of the Buryat folk art in A. Alsatkina’ works.
