The article is a study of family values based on the creative work of the Mongolian buryat writer S. Erdene. The author argues that in preserving historical memory a large role is played by the family, race, carriers and custodians of the traditional spiritual values of the people. In the stories of S. Erdene, written in the first person, “Ehe” (Mother), “Ere hүn” (Man), “Amidaralay hurguuli” (School of Life), the images of the mother - the keeper of the hearth, the cult of the child - are revealed in the writer's world of art the origins of the formation of a man as head of the family, a successor of the race. The image of the narrator, which is constantly present in S. Erdene's stories, makes it possible to clarify the complex problems of the works, lends it a special lyricism. The article concludes that the writer, based on national traditions, argues in his works that family and children are the highest value in the Buryat-Mongolian tradition.
