The theme of death and immortality in the works of G.R. Derzhavin and poetry of St. Gregory the Theologian

The article is devoted to the study of the poetry of Derzhavin as continuation of the spiritual tradition that developed in Byzantine theology. The similarity of themes, motives, images in his works with poems of St. Gregory the Theologian. Particular attention is paid to the spiritual concept of human "poverty" and the tradition behind it of apophatic theology as an essential principle inherent in Russian literature in the understanding of the world and man.
