The article deals with the key issue of contemporary history of national education, i.e. the problems and prospects of teaching in Russia, which are presented here on the basis of sociological research in St. Petersburg, one of the main regions of the country. The article analyses the experience of reforms in the national school, and presents what Petersburg teachers think about the state education policy.
