Trends in the development of professional competencies of a teacher in the academic system of higher education

The feasible trends in the development of professional competencies of teachers in the academic system of higher education are analyzed, the main directions of educational technology development in the second half of the 2020s considering the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Some practical cases and arguments for the need to use technology according to current conditions are given within four areas of teacher competences: general technological competences, competences in the field of pedagogical and educational technology application, beliefs concerning teaching and learning, and competences in the area of professional learning.
