Pig farming is one of the branches of beef breeding which successfully overcome the crisis of the 1990s and its consequences. The article presents the results of an analysis of pig farming development in 76 regions of the Russian Federation through 1990 to 2022. An analysis of the distribution of pig population in 76 Russian regions has shown that there are no significant structural changes between the regions. The pig population is concentrated in a small number of regions - three in 1990 and five in 2022. There have been no significant changes in the distribution of pig population between regions of the Russian Federation over the past 30 years, while the leading regions have changed by more than 50%. An increase in the number of pigs is observed in 13 regions. The number of regions characterized by a decrease in the growth rate of the pig population is growing (from 48.68% in 1990 to 61.84% in 2022), as well as the number of regions that account for less than 1% of the total population (from 48.7% in 1990 to 57.9% in 2022).
