The article examines current trends contributing to the spread of illicit arms trafficking in the Russian Federation. Provides a comprehensive analysis of the socio-economic, legal, geopolitical and criminological conditions contributing to the growth of crime in this area. Practical examples are considered, problematic areas of Russian legislation are highlighted, and ways to improve the system of state control over illicit arms trafficking are proposed.
