Theoretical aspects of the organization of discussion as a dialogical form of teaching history in a general education school

The article is devoted to the use of debatable teaching methods in history lessons in high school. It examines the essence, the concept of discussion, as well as the features of its preparation and conduct in the process of teaching history at school. It emphasizes the need for Russian students not only to have knowledge of world and national history, but also the ability to formulate their point of view on a particular problem of historical science. The importance of introducing materials on historiography in history lessons and organizing discussions on them is also substantiated. The author analyzes the forms and methods of teaching that will contribute to the effective use of the discussion method among students. This paper reveals not only theoretical, but also practical aspects of organizing and conducting discussions in history and social studies lessons, and also substantiates promising approaches using discussion to the development of a problem-based teaching method.
