Theoretical sources of «public knowledge»

The article in question analyzes theoretical sources of the public knowledge concept. Different approaches to the definition of «information society» are suggested. The main features of «information society» were identified by D.Bell, M.Castels and others. The author considers that K.Marx, who contributed much to the society analysis, has affected modern sociologists` views. The most important phenomenon of the postindusrialization theory is the increasing role of science, knowledge and information in the development of a society.
