Theories of professional motivation and their applied significance in modern higher school

The article deals with the problem of classification of theories of motivation from the point of view of their applied application in modern higher education. The classification of theories of professional motivation, based on its foundation, generality of properties and the theoretical level of organization of the classification, is presented. Modern approaches to the classification of theories of motivation in general and theories of motivation associated with vocational education. A review of studies on the application of theories of motivation in the practice of higher education is carried out. Four groups of theories were singled out according to the following principles of management of professional motivation of students: through stimulation of satisfaction with the activity and its results; through the ratio of internal and external motives; through the enhancement of professional interest; through the development of educational and professional interactions and interpersonal relationships.
