Typology of abbreviation in English medical discourse

The article focuses on the problem of abbreviation in medical discourse. Abbreviation reflects a medical concept sphere and preserves cognitive information about different medical phenomena in condensed type. The author suggests typology of abbreviation on the basis of its essential characteristics.
