The article discusses the typology of persons who deliberately make a false denunciation and its significance for cognitive and preventive activities. Based on the criterion of motivation for criminal behavior, the following types of criminals were identified: «vindictive», «defensive», «avoiding responsibility», «mercenary», «demonstrative».
