The article is devoted to the classification of interjections in the English language, analyzing their types and functions. In the language under consideration, interjections can be classified by structural and semantic features. Based on the analysis of the presented points of view of domestic and foreign linguists on the classification of interjections, we adhere to the following classification. Based on the structural classification, we distinguish primary and secondary interjections. Primary interjections are words that stand alone and are not included in any part of speech. Secondary interjections can be expressed by different parts of speech, and can even be two-part or more. Based on the semantic classification, we distinguish four types: emotive, cognitive, conative and phatic.
