Types of linguo-cultural urbanity (on the example of urbanity of Arkhangelsk)

The article describes the typology of urbanity units used in Arkhangelsk. It deals with the concepts "linguo-cultural portrait of the city", "linguo-cultural space", "urbanity". The works of E. S. Kubrakova, T. V. Shmeleva, N. Prokhurovskaya, A. M., Mezenko are used as the methodological and scientific basis of the study. It is concluded that the city names depend on the extralinguistic factors. The paper gives valuable information on linguo-cultural space of the city of Arkhangelsk. We identify the phenomena of existence of the modern urbanity in Arkhangelsk: "clogging" the urban space with signage and advertisement, the lack of a unified direction of the naming development, dialogical texts, congruity of naming practice with the practice of other regions of Russia. The study describes the development and existence of trends which depend on socio-cultural, economic and political situations. Among the identified trends are expansion of loanwords, graphic pattern distortion of the naming, use of extrinsic units and creolization (full or partial), desemantization of sustainable linguistic structures, the language game, use of language expressiveness and precedent names, actualization of the regional component...
