This study is devoted to the lexical and etymological analysis of toponyms and anthroponyms for denoting astronomical objects on the material of English and German languages. As a result of lexical and etymological analysis, the author comes to the conclusion that in the subgroup "Anthroponyms" the identified names of such astronomical objects as "stars", "comets", "asteroids" and "satellites" contain information about scientists who they are named after and perpetuate their names, about literary characters, who they are named after, about historical figures, in whose honor they were named by the discoverers. In the subgroup "Toponyms" names of such astronomical objects as "meteorites" and "asteroids" are revealed. They contain information about geographical features (localities, cities and countries) where they were first discovered, and convey diverse information through ages. The results of the research can be used when compiling mono- and bilingual onomastic dictionaries, while developing courses and special courses on onomastics, anthroponymics, toponymics.
