The article is devoted the poetic-semantic complex topos "book", realized in the literature of the XX-XXI centuries. Defined the main values of a topos "book" in the history of culture.Identified semantic modifications of this topos, represented in the plots of virtualization-related books, its destruction and archiving of book knowledge. The theoretical principles are confirmed by the analysis of works of art of the XX-XXI centuries.
