Traditions of studying and teaching German literature in Perm State University

On the basis of archival sources and materials, published and unpublished scientific and pedagogical works of teachers, the tradition of studying and teaching German literature at Perm State University, as well as at Perm Pedagogical Institute is traced. In the first years of the University's existence, scientists were united: historians taught languages, and specialists in the field of Russian literature and had scientific and translation interests in the field of foreign philology. The main scientific and pedagogical fund has developed since the formation of the department of foreign literature as an independent unit. The quantitative and qualitative heterogeneity of the studied material is due to the varying degree of availability of archival documents and their preservation.
