Introduction. Alexey Balabanov's movie "I want too" is either post-modernist or sci-fi with surrealism "touch". Either a true story, or reality, or future. Either a parable, or mockery about a group of people hurrying for a crucial meeting with happiness. Tired, outcast, misunderstood, light and dark, but equally hurrying to the final resting place, to the last line, to the last boundary, people. Hurrying to the sky, to the desired purpose: to light, to happiness, to God. Everyone has their own reason. And everyone in their own way brings closer this decisive meeting. They decide to try fate because they have reached in mortal life such a moment when it is impossible to continue to live as before. The road of life has sputtered out. The desired path becomes the road to death which unites several characters travelers: the murderer, the loose woman, the musician, the unique boy having the gift of foresight, the crazy old man and his alcoholic son. Alexey Balabanov's movie "I want too" is his last work. At the end of the movie the viewer will see the author as the director who gives assessment to his creative work. He will be the seventh in the group of "companions in fortune" who understand that the desire to die is stronger than the desire to continue to live as before. The road of death with no return is chosen by the group of people in pursue of happiness at its final destination (at its end). The people in the group are of different ages, professions, levels of education and experience. They are gathered together by the common fact - lack of vital forces. Devastated, exhausted and frustrated, they are eager to enter Heavens door in the hope that once again they will find themselves. Conclusion. It is difficult to live at peace and in harmony with oneself. It is even more difficult to look for the "lost" self, when there is no light at the end of the tunnel and "there is no-one to offer a helping hand" … Alexey Balabanov's last work doesn't let go. It continues its pulsation, its sounding in us, as we try to find our way and happiness too. How will we go the way and whether we will be able to do it? And again the words come to mind, "What's the use of the road if it doesn't lead to the church?" In our opinion, Alexey Balabanov answered this question most honestly and precisely.
Bell tower, happiness, destiny (fate), god, road, language, exclusion zone, death
