Traditional Kalmyk food in family and household rituals

The article deals with the features of the functioning of the lexical and semantic group "food" in the Kalmyk language, revealing social and ethno-cultural aspects related to the daily economic activities and traditional culture of the nomadic people. The vocabulary of the traditional food system of the Kalmyks, as a component of material culture, is valuable information for ethnolinguistic research. The article defines the cultural functions of the vocabulary that reflects its food preferences and identifies lexical and semantic links with the main motives of the Kalmyk people's traditions. The study analyzes the vocabulary that refers to traditional food products, meat and flour products, plant food of the Kalmyks, as well as other Mongolian peoples. Common Mongolian terms are identified, as well as isoglosses characteristic of certain sub-ethnic groups of Kalmyks, partially other Mongolian peoples with similar diets, Mongols and Buryats.
